“The problem, therefore, was as modern as a problem could be. It was built around the latest marvel of our electrical age and on a foundation in which faith and American business optimism had to play a large part.”

– Raymond Hood (Lead architect of Rockefeller Center)

For nearly a century, Rockefeller Center has been one of the beating hearts of New York City—part Art Deco masterpiece, part public plaza, part stage set for the city’s collective memory, part public art gallery. This gallery brings together my favorite Rockefeller Center photos and New York City prints, from quiet early-morning moments to the crowds under the Christmas tree.

Each photograph is available as a signed archival print, made with museum-quality materials. Whether you’re looking for a Rockefeller Center poster for your home, a statement piece of NYC wall art for an office, or a set of smaller prints to build a gallery wall, these images are designed to hold up both across time and up close on the wall.

Archival Photographic Prints

After studying photography and printing at the International Center for Photography in the early ’00s, I’ve been obsessively photographing New York City ever since. And as a part-time historian and NYC guide, I can’t imagine there are many who have walked the city more in that timeframe.

My archive consists of both the unique, daily life in the city, as well as the classic and popular views, including the skyscrapers, skyline, Central Park, and architectural marvels, in all seasons. I work with major firms, art buyers, interior designers, and architects. I love the art of printing, getting to create, experience, and then share a little treasure.

All prints are made with museum-quality archival photography paper, are signed, and come with a certificate of authenticity. Prints are offered in a variety of sizes, I can handle or advise on framing, and I offer installation planning and services. Installing the finished products on walls is one of the most satisfying parts of the job.

In my spare time, I am also a documentary and street photographer, and I have captured a large variety of happenings around the city. I can also send customized selections of work for review based on your interests and needs.

Rockefeller Center & Christmas Lights at Night, 2003

Rockefeller Center Photos: Day, Night & Every Season

Rockefeller Center is one of those places that changes character with the light. In the morning, the plaza can feel almost private—soft shadows dropping down between the towers, commuters slipping past Atlas and Prometheus. By midday, it’s all reflections and crowds, a bright canyon of glass, stone, and flags. At night, the plaza glows from within, with the buildings, fountains, and shops all reflected in polished stone.

This collection of Rockefeller Center photos includes:

  • Wide scenes of the entire plaza and surrounding skyscrapers

  • Closer street-photography moments with New Yorkers and visitors passing through

  • Reflections in windows, fountains, and polished stone

  • Black-and-white Rockefeller Center photography that emphasizes the geometry and the Art Deco details

If you’re looking for Rockefeller Center images that capture both the energy and the small, human moments of the space, this is where to start.

Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree & iPhone, 2009

Rockefeller Center Christmas Photos: Tree, Ice Rink & Holiday Lights

For many people around the world, Rockefeller Center Christmas photos are the image of New York City in winter: the tree, the ice rink, the golden statue of Prometheus, and the canyon of lights stretching down to Fifth Avenue.

This section focuses on Rockefeller Center Christmas tree photos and winter scenes, including:

  • Wide views of the Christmas tree and plaza at night

  • Skaters on the Rockefeller Center ice rink, framed by the surrounding towers

  • Details of lights, ornaments, and decorations, from close-up abstractions to classic postcard views

  • Snowy or rainy nights where the lights bounce off the pavement and steam

These Rockefeller Center Christmas prints work beautifully as seasonal pieces, but they also hold their own year-round—especially in offices, lobbies, and homes where you want that classic “New York at holiday time” feeling on the wall.

Bank of America Building and Empire State from Top of the Rock, 2012

Rockefeller Center Architecture & Cityscape Views

Beyond the crowds and the Christmas lights, Rockefeller Center is one of the great Art Deco architectural ensembles in the world. Many of the photographs in this gallery lean into that side of the story—Rockefeller Center pictures that focus on:

  • The vertical lines and setbacks of the towers

  • Sculptures, bas-reliefs, and murals worked into the complex

  • Reflections of the buildings in nearby glass facades and fountains

  • Tight compositions that turn the complex into pure shape, tone, and pattern

Some images are made from ground level in the plaza; others look out toward Midtown and the New York City skyline, with Rockefeller Center anchoring the frame. If you’re drawn to architectural Rockefeller Center photography—more about structure and light than crowds—this is the part of the gallery to explore.

Museum-Quality Rockefeller Center Prints, Posters & Wall Art

Every image in this gallery is available as a Rockefeller Center print, from smaller sizes that fit on a bookshelf to large statement pieces for bigger walls. Prints are made as archival pigment (giclée) prints on museum-quality papers.

You can order these Rockefeller Center posters and art prints in the standard sizes I offer (from small prints up to large Rockefeller Center canvas-style wall art sizes), and most images can also be produced at custom dimensions for specific spaces. Each print:

  • Is hand-signed on the front or back

  • Includes a Certificate of Authenticity with title, date, and print details

  • Is carefully packed and ships worldwide in protective packaging

If you have questions about sizing, framing, or how a specific Rockefeller Center photo might work in your space, feel free to reach out with a snapshot of your wall and I’m happy to suggest options.

Commissioned Rockefeller Center Photography & Custom Projects

If you’re an interior designer, architect, or business looking for Rockefeller Center wall art across multiple pieces or spaces, I also take on commissioned Rockefeller Center photography and custom print projects. This can include:

  • Creating a cohesive set of Rockefeller Center images tailored to your color palette or brand

  • Producing large-scale Rockefeller Center canvas prints or installations for lobbies and conference rooms

  • Working with you to pair Rockefeller Center with other New York City landmarks—Central Park, the Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square—for a broader “New York story” on your walls

For larger orders or custom installations, please get in touch to discuss licensing, sizing, and timelines.

About the Photographer & the 25-Year NYC Archive

I’ve been photographing New York City for more than two decades, and Rockefeller Center has been one of my recurring obsessions—part of a larger, 25-year searchable NYC archive that includes cityscapes, street photography, and quieter neighborhood moments. Many of the Rockefeller Center images you see here are part of long-term projects: documenting how the plaza changes through the years, how people move through it, and how the light and architecture keep offering new ways to see a familiar place.

If you’re looking for something specific—sunset Rockefeller Center photos, a particular vantage, or a piece to pair with another New York landmark—there’s a good chance it exists somewhere in the archive. You can either search the archive directly or get in touch and tell me what you’re after; I’m happy to help you find the right photograph.
