Stay Tuned for Season 2

Join me on Bluesky.

My apologies for missing the last few months of the column. The reality is, I may not be back to regular posting for another month, but when I’m back I will be back strong and consistent. I love the idea of seasons for things, so we’ll say, Stay Tuned for Season 2 of Glass City.

Since Thanksgiving, I have been using every spare second to write a book. So fun yet the grind of it is getting to me. The writing experiments of this column last year were meant to spur a structure and ideas for that, and I decided to go for it during the cold of winter (and to distract from societal angst).

When I get into something like this, I’m great at obsessing and terrible at multitasking. And particularly difficult is shifting writing styles from a few-minute email read to something much longer-form. I have so much to share here from the stories, reading, and research I did over the winter, but I didn’t want to confuse myself by trying to write both short and long simultaneously. I’m very excited about it, 60,000 words completed and edited, and probably 30,000 more to go.

Anyway, you’ll hear from me soon. I’m excited to talk about congestion pricing, Eric Adams, and lots more. In the meantime, I hope you’re all surviving okay, physically and mentally through these rough times. I highly recommend Rebecca Solnit’s Meditations in an Emergency about what is going on in America. And if you’re interested in getting more involved, Indivisible and 50501 are good places to start looking.

Here are photos from a few protests recently. There are multiple each day around New York. Followed by some gallery details that interested me from the winter. I’m not going to cite these as well as I should. I’ll do that going forward though.

Stay strong.
