“Brooklyn of ample hills was mine.”
– Walt Whitman
My primary fascination with my new borough of Brooklyn, is the community, one which feels very similar now to what the Upper West Side was when I grew up. I think a lot about gentrification and how to integrate well into my new surroundings, and one of the ways was to obsessively explore.
I take relaxing walks to all different places that I’ve never been, and while I aim to capture the classic Brooklyn photography prints, Brooklyn cityscape photo prints, Brooklyn street photography prints that show the borough and create beautiful prints for walls, whether it’s the iconic Brooklyn Bridge photo print, the DUMBO Manhattan Bridge view photo print, the Brooklyn Heights Promenade photo print and the park below, or views of Prospect Park and Coney Island, I’ve made sure to capture those photos in very high quality for those who need them. Many subjects here exist in color and as black and white Brooklyn prints; a few become night Brooklyn photo prints or long exposure New York City prints when time helps the picture read from across the room.
But I’m also looking for the unique views and details. I shoot Brooklyn in medium format typically, looking for the gorgeous textures and colors and the views which truly capture the community and spirit of the borough.
Archival Photographic Prints
After studying photography and printing at the International Center for Photography in the early ’00s, I’ve been obsessively photographing New York City ever since. And as a part-time historian and NYC guide, I can’t imagine there are many who have walked the city more in that timeframe.
My archive consists of both the unique, daily life in the city, as well as the classic and popular views, including the skyscrapers, skyline, Central Park, and architectural marvels, in all seasons. I work with major firms, art buyers, interior designers, and architects. I love the art of printing, getting to create, experience, and then share a little treasure.
All prints are made with museum-quality archival photography paper, are signed, and come with a certificate of authenticity. Prints are offered in a variety of sizes, I can handle or advise on framing, and I offer installation planning and services. Installing the finished products on walls is one of the most satisfying parts of the job.
In my spare time, I am also a documentary and street photographer, and I have captured a large variety of happenings around the city. I can also send customized selections of work for review based on your interests and needs.
DUMBO & the Manhattan Bridge View
Cobblestones, steel, and the frame of the Manhattan Bridge with the Empire State Building that everyone recognizes. These pictures orient us in New York. Sometimes you want something classic and iconic on the wall, such as the dumbo manhattan bridge view photo print in gorgeous lighting and weather, or chasing the crazy bridge and tourist crowds capturing brooklyn street photography prints.
Brooklyn Bridge & Waterfront
The Brooklyn Bridge photo print images show New York’s pride. The bridge once dwarfed the city and now is dwarfed by the Financial District, but it still is the star of the show, still grand in every way. Surrounded by the South Street Seaport, the pillars, the water taxis and ferries. And in this portfolio are night Brooklyn photo prints and long exposure New York City prints.
Brooklyn Street Photography
From Downtown Brooklyn to Coney Island, from Bay Ridge to the industrial buildings of Bushwick. The community, the people, the spirit, the details of surroundings and everyday life. When I aim to do ‘street photography’ in Brooklyn, it comes down to trying to understand the spirit of the place and figure out how to capture that spirit.
Sunset Park & Industrial Edges
The details in Sunset Park are second to none, from strange front yards to interesting people to meet and take portraits, to Greenwood Cemetery with incredible views of Downtown Brooklyn and Manhatttan, to Dumbo, to the industrial waterfront of Sunset Park. New York’s industrial past is still here, and it is spectacular to explore
Coney Island & the Boardwalk
Real New Yorkers, colors, heat, breeze, crowds, signs, rides, carneys, swimmers, the boardwalk, and the Atlantic. A Coney Island photo print captures the playful spirit of the hard working city. A Coney Island summer weekend has the most interesting people watching in the city.
Night & Long Exposure
I love to explore the city at night, in all types of weather. Sitting there with a tripod while breathing in crisp, peaceful air and slowing down. Viewing these night brooklyn photo prints, I feel the peace that I felt in those moments; they are a way to travel without traveling.
